About this Event

With the ever-increasing prominence of Design-Build in the marketplace, it is imperative to understand how we can all come together to benefit our top priority – the owners! Join McCarthy as we delve into the design-build methodology and case studies where we have successfully applied strategies that have proven beneficial to the entire project team.

Chris Chappel - Integrated Design Manager

With more than 20 years of architectural and design management experience, Chris is responsible for driving coordination of the design phase activities in his role as Integrated Design Manager for McCarthy Building Companies’ Central Region. He is passionate about bridging the gap between design and construction, finding win-win strategies for project teams. Chris’ role also includes setting the plan for programming and stakeholder collaboration, functional team structures, design reviews and value analysis, and identifying the documents needed for each milestone estimate leading to the final GMP. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Architecture from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Ryan Sawall, PE, LEED AP BD+C - Business Unit Leader

As Vice President, Ryan Sawall oversees McCarthy’s work in Omaha, as well as leads business development and client service efforts in the western portion of the McCarthy Central Region. With nearly two decades of experience, he began as a project engineer, moving up to project superintendent, project manager and project director prior to assuming his current role.

Along with being licensed as a Professional Mechanical Engineer, Ryan is LEED AP BD+C certified through the U.S. Green Building Council and also holds a certification as a Certified Healthcare Constructor (CHC) through the National Hospital Association. He is a former board member for the Nebraska Society of Healthcare Engineers.
