September 22, 2021 I witnessed my son take his last breath while on life support. He was among the 400+ Edmontonian’s who had died of an opioid-related overdose in 2021. And the number keeps growing everyday. But he is more than a statistic; Ayrton was a son and a brother. Nephew and grandson. My baby boy.
You are invited to join your running community to support this cause. Run (or walk!) as many kms as you like from Dawson Park, December 31 starting at 4pm. The same 5 km loop will be used to allow others to join in (and warm up inside if needed). My goal is to brave the cold for 5 loops.
If you are not in the Edmonton area, you can show your support by running wherever you are.
If you are able, please consider donating $1/km you run, but any amount is welcomed. All funds raised will be donated to Warm Hands Warm Hearts to provide winter items directly to houseless individuals. Donations will be accepted by cash or e-transfer to [email protected].
