Dawn Chorus Walk
For just a few weeks of the year, we have an incredible opportunity to witness the UK's bird life performing a glorious dawn chorus. Our guided walk at sunrise will offer the chance to experience a true wildlife soundscape within our woodland and wildflower meadows.
We'll be in prime position for dawn and then listen as the Forest of Flowers comes to life with a wonderful chorus from the resident bird life. We'll be joined by wildlife expert Keith Gittens, who will help us to identify the different bird species from their song.
The Forest of Flowers' native tree and wildflower species provide a fantastic habitat for birds. We are lucky enough to have a huge range of species including (to name a few):
- Blackcap
- Chaffinch
- Chiffchaff
- Coal tit
- Dunnock
- Goldfinch
- Great tit
- Long-tailed tit
- Marsh tit
- Nuthatch
- Reed bunting
- Song thrush
- Whitethroat
- Willow warbler
- Wren
Tea and coffee will be provided after the walk.
Please note:
- It can be cold early in the day, so remember to wrap up warm.
- Our walk will be through rough and uneven terrain - we recommend sturdy/waterproof footwear such as wellies or walking boots.
- Binoculars are highly recommended.
Tickets are limited and booking is essential via:

About Forest of Flowers
The Forest of Flowers project has created 74 acres of woodland and wildflower meadows plus 17 ponds, with the sole aim to provide a thriving natural sanctuary for wildlife.
The land, previously a mixed arable and sheep farm, was re-purposed in 2016 when over 42,000 trees and shrubs were planted, alongside 35 native wildflower species. This is part of a vision to create a thriving ecosystem to benefit pollinators, birds and a diverse range of native wildlife.
The project also supports:
- UK wildflower population, providing seeds from the meadows to other sites nationwide.
- Carbon capture to reduce the effects of climate change.
- Prevention of flooding in the local area.
By purchasing a ticket you are helping to fund our project and further conservation work. Thank you!
Visitor Comments from Previous Events
"Thank you for a most enjoyable, relaxing, varied and informative event. It was a very special, unique and memorable afternoon. The structure was excellent as it was so varied and the activities linked together so well. We were made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived and the setting under the gazebo in the orchard was absolutely perfect... and your friendly cat was an added bonus!"
"From our perspective it was just the right balance, giving people a chance to learn, share their stories, mix with others, ask questions. As always, your knowledge and enthusiasm shone through and I’m sure everyone found the afternoon useful and interesting."
