About this Event

Ever wanted to be able to tell the difference between the song of the blackbird and the robin? A tree creeper and a nuthatch?

Experience the joy of the dawn chorus on International Day Chorus Day and learn how to spot the various birds visiting your garden each morning by their song.

Join expert birder Stuart Fraser from Greater Manchester Ecology Unit (GMEU) for a walk in our woodlands in Barrow Bridge. The route will go through High Shores Clough and along Dean Brook, and we will listen for the birdsong of common woodland birds. Beginner friendly.

This walk will be cancelled if there is severe weather. Please check your emails on the day before the walk and ensure you come in weather-appropriate gear.
Barrow Bridge has poor phone signal, please plan your route ahead of time.
All ages of family are welcome. Children under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Due to the nature of the walk please keep dogs at home unless assistance dogs.
This walk is approx. 2 hours, 1 km at a gentle pace, stopping frewquently. It is partly on footpaths and partly on uneven ground with steep steps up and down. This walk is not suitable for anyone with mobility issues.
Please make the Woodland Trust team aware of any medical issues before the start of the walk, e.g. asthma, diabetes, etc.
Barrow Bridge car park has 20 spaces and is free but donations are welcome via our solar-powered car park machine at Walker Fold car park.
