David M. Wells was a pioneer for the Louisa Youth Wrestling Program and had a profound impact on the wrestling community.
He was a A.A. State Wrestling Champion in 1976 for Andrew Lewis High School in Roanoke, VA.
After moving to Louisa, his passion for wrestling led him to help begin the youth wrestling program where he coached the team for 10 years.
His dedication to the sport led to youth wrestlers competing at all levels regionally and nationally.
He would also become a state-level referee, eventually serving as
the Commissioner of the Charlottesville Referee Association.
David Wells passed away from cancer in 2007, but his legacy and passion for the sport lives on to this day.
