One of Irelands foremost jazz musicians drummer David Lyttle joins guitarist Martin Söderbacka and bass player Eevalotta Matikainen as this trio offers swinging, organic and in the moment breathing jazz music in the form of originals and a few selected standards.Jazz drummer David Lyttle (IRL) is one of Northern Irelands foremost jazz musicians. Lyttle has played in more than 40 different countries and has collaborated and toured with musicians such as Kurt Rosenwinkel, Jonathan Kreisberg, Dave Liebman, Seamus Blake, Joe Lovano, Jesse Van Ruller, Terell Stafford, Pino Palladino, Kenny Werner and Liane Carrol. He as also received nominations for MOBO Awards and Urban Music Awards. His work is described by Rolling Stone magazine as "one of the best, robust listening experiences you're likely to have all year" and by website All about jazz as "...one of the world's great contemporary drummers.”
Guitarist Martin Söderbacka & bassist Eevalotta Matikainen, have played over 1000 concerts together and collaborated with internationally acclaimed jazz artists such as Viktoria Tolstoy, John Stowell, Jukka Perko, Tom Ollendorff, Felipe Salles, Joris Roelofs, Joonatan Rautio, Manuel Dunkel, Teemu Viinikainen and many more. The trio performs original compositions by the musicians including David’s compositions and music from Martin’s and Eevalotta’s new album Northern Sky (2024), which features David Lyttle on drums, as well as a few standards. The compositions resonate in a clear sound of the Nordic landscapes while still relying on the harmonies and swing of the American jazz tradition. The music can be described as contemporary jazz with Scandinavian flavours that sets a playground for the musicians to create rhythmic and harmonic adventures.
