About this Event

DAVID LYNCH: GOTTA LIGHT?
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 19TH @ 7PM

Screening includes a mix of digital videos and 16mm prints, sourced from Miami-Dade Public Library and Enoch Pratt Free Library's archives.

This screening was inspired directly by David Lynch’s late career work and, specifically, his groundbreaking episode of television, “Gotta Light?”, from Twin Peaks: The Return. In an attempt to dive into the experimental films and themes that are echoed in Lynch’s own work, there will be a screening of the following 16mm shorts: Stan Brakhage’s Mothlight and The Wold Shadow; Tony Conrad’s The Flicker; Paul Sharits’ T,O,U,C,H,I,N,G; and Peter & Joan Foldès’ A Short Vision.

This screening will also include a discussion featuring an assortment of David Lynch’s commercial, television, and music video work.

WARNING: A number of the featured films contain flashing lights and other images that may trigger seizures in people with photosensitive epilespy. Such films will be accompanied with a warning in person as well.

“IN DREAMS, I TALK WITH YOU”, is a series of screenings in South Florida hosted by the Miami-Dade Public Library’s AV Club, all in tribute of filmmaker David Lynch in the weeks following his death. The six screenings will be hosted by Katharine Labuda (MDPL’s AV Club) and Juan Barquin (Flaming Classics) and take place through the months of February and March, pairing 16mm film prints with conversations around David Lynch, his work, his contemporaries, and his influences.

The primary limitation enforced was working exclusively from prints available from Miami-Dade Public Library’s archive and Enoch Pratt Free Library’s archive.

This ensures that all screenings are free to produce and free for the public.

INTRO TO SURREALISM [16MM/DIGITAL]
INFLUENCES & FAVORITES [16MM/DIGITAL]
