Author David Kilner presents- Agatha Christie and writing
In this light-hearted and well-illustrated talk, author David Kilner discusses Agatha Christie’s life as a writer - how she got her start, how she became famous, the tricks she used in her books and her most popular characters - Hercule Poirot and Miss Jane Marple.
David Kilner is a retiree who spent his career working in the social welfare sector and is well familiar with the darker side of human nature and the stresses of life which create opportunities for criminal behaviour.
He has been an avid reader of crime fiction since he was a teenager many years ago. He especially loves the British school of crime writing and its exploration of the ‘why’ rather than just the ‘who’. His writing heroes include PD James, Ian Rankin, Elizabeth George and Ruth Rendell/Barbara Vine.
