Dave, Jackie and Rod take to the stage at The Cavern, Raynes Park to share songs and stories and raise a glass to their dear friend Steve Simpson. 3pm start! Look forward to seeing you all there!Rod first met Steve Simpson back in 1968, when they were both working with Country bands, playing the NCO Clubs on American Airforce Bases. They met again in 1973 when Rod was with the pub rock band Bees Make Honey. Through Rod, Jackie met Steve and throughout the 70’s they played around London in scratch bands that sometimes didn’t even have names. Steve recruited Rod and Alan Coulter into Meal Ticket and Steve started to play some of Jackie’s songs. Rod and Steve did a lot of sessions around this time with Willie Finlayson, who’d also been in Bees Make Honey. Steve was a giant of a musician a true gent who will never be forgotten. When Dave Sutherland had a huge success with Jackie’s song ‘Dear John’ which Steve played on, a connection was made. Now all three are mates.
