ENTRANCE FEE is $5-$8 sliding scale. You do not have to bring a partner. We welcome beginners. Music is contemporary and includes an assortment of tempos for fusion and micro-fusion dance.
PARKING PLEASE READ: The Commons House can be accessed off of 35th Avenue (off of San Juan Ave). Please park directly on 35th Street and walk down 35th Street (away from San Juan) to the entrance. There is also a parking lot on the right on 35th after Kuhn Street with a very limited number of marked visitor spots on the right as you enter. The rest of this parking lot is private and for residents only. Please carpool if you can. Be careful not to block driveways when you park. Please be respectful of our neighbors and keep the noise down outside. SEE YOU SOON!
ROOTS FUSION offers a supportive and consensual fusion and micro-fusion dance space in which to explore the co-creation of movement to contemporary music, and meet new people. DANCE STYLE: Roots Fusion is a partner dance experience that can combine elements of blues, tango, west coast swing, waltz, zook, lindy, bachata and other partnered dance styles that utilize frame and the concepts of lead and follow.
BENEFIT: Roots Fusion is an all-volunteer collaboration. Each month between 10% and 25% of net proceeds are donated to a worthy non-political cause.
CONSENT: Fusion and microfusion are partnered dance styles that can range from open hand hold to close embrace. Please be mindful of obtaining consent for close embrace (verbal or clear physical). No high lifts are allowed in our dance space. Please do not engage in low lifts without verbal consent from your partner. Consent in partner dancing can be complex to navigate. More guidelines can be found on our website at https://fusioninclusion.org/values-guidelines/. Please do not hesitate to bring any unwelcome behavior to the attention of our volunteer staff. Fusion is a partnered dance. Please be respectful of the vibe and of keeping the dance floor safe for all.
FOOTWEAR: Please wear dance shoes or other clean, non-scuffing indoor footwear. Clean, bare feet are also acceptable.
