A 5 special five course wine dinner menu paired with beautiful wines presented by winemaker Anne Dashe. Anne Dashe, and her husband Mike, founded Dashe Cellars in 1996. The small winery produces wines from some of northern California’s most revered vineyards at their urban location in Alameda (recently relocated from Oakland). Following Mike’s tenure at the legendary Ridge Winery, Dashe’s first production was Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel. Zinfandel, the distinctly Californian wine, is still one of the wineries specialties (especially the Single Vineyard Series). In addition, Dashe makes a remarkable range of wines that are true to their natural and traditional techniques and evocative of the special places where they are grown.
Anne was raised in Brittany, France and attended the University of Bordeaux. Her remarkable palate led to a difficult decision between pursuing a career in perfume or wine. After a professor told her that she wouldn’t be admitted to the enology program because she was a woman, she quickly committed to enology. Before founding Dashe Cellars, Anne worked at Chateau La Dominique in Saint-Emilion and Chappellet Winery in Napa Valley as well as RMS Brandy DIstillery in Carneros.
Why: Dashe Cellars is one of our favorite wineries (and one that has had a place on our wine list since we opened 14 years ago). Dashe makes elegant and stylish wines that are true representations of their origins and very versatile with food. We have had the honor of hosting Anne many times over the years (both in person as well as for our very first “Zoom Wine Dinner” in 2020) and her warmth, knowledge and expertise are remarkable. Every event that we have hosted with Anne and her wines has made for a very special evening!
