About this Event
Inspired by the movie, Sinners, we’re throwing a juke joint–themed night of music, dance & mental health in Harlem!
The Juke Joint is a prelude to NYC Darkness RISING: Live 8 in Harlem. This isn’t just another mixer. It’s a cultural intervention. Like Delta Slim said, we heal ourselves in this space, we are free.
What to wear: Juke Joint attire is suggested, but optional. Just come ready to dance, heal & celebrate Black men’s mental health.
What to Expect:
🎬 Soul Sessions: Fireside Panel This discussion explores themes from the film Sinners — generational trauma, fatherhood, incarceration, masculinity, vulnerability, and the role of therapy in Black communities. Featuring mental health professionals, artists, and cultural workers, this conversation grounds the evening in truth and transformation.
🎷 Juke Joint Social After the panel, enjoy an elevated social experience of dance that celebrates Black joy and connection:
🎶 Music + Poetry
🍸 Drinks & Lite Bites from Harlem-based restaurants and sponsors
Why This Matters
This event supports the work of Darkness RISING , specifically our REBUILD Wellness Portal and other Black mental health programming. You’re not just RSVPing, you’re investing in healing.
