Darkness into Light is an annual international 5k walk/run fundraiser to raise awareness for those struggling with suicidal thoughts and/or self-harm. Since our first event back in 2015 DIL Calgary has partnered with Distress Centre Calgary (DCC) - DCC provides 24-hour crisis support professional counselling youth peer support and navigation and referrals through 211 and their programs at SORCe – all at no cost.
Beginning at 5.15am on May 11 participants make their way around the downtown route from Peace Bridge (south side) and cross the finish line as dawn begins to break - in support of our event the Calgary Tower and Reconciliation Bridge will be yellow throughout May 11.
