The dark skies are back at Howick Hall Gardens & Arboretum… but do not fret! This is the best time to see some of the most extraordinary things that are just beyond our planet.Howick Hall Gardens & Arboretum are teaming up again with the brilliant astronomers from Astro Ventures to bring you another dark sky event, and this time we are hoping it will come with a little twist… we are talking Stars! Planets! The Milky Way! Even Fireballs?*
So what will this event include?
We shall start the evening at 6pm sharp, meeting up in the visitor centre which can be located just inside the main entrance to the hall. From here we will be given an introduction by the Astro Ventures team, and given insight into what we may gain to see on the evening. There will be binoculars and telescopes on hand, supervised by the astronomy team to ensure you all get the best experience, we will even be serving hot chocolate accompanied by themed cookies!
The event is tailored for all levels of expertise and interests, with Howick Hall Gardens & Arboretum being the perfect place to explore Northumberland’s famous dark skies. This will be an experience unlike any other, and we would be delighted to share it with you!

*Fireballs can be unpredictable, so while we are hoping they will be flying through our atmosphere on this particular date, there’s a chance they may not be seen. However, with the help of the astronomers and their recommended trusty apps, you’ll be able to pick up some really useful tips on how to spot them yourself!
