Dark Circles returns to Crown House for the final time in 2025 with a wonderful evening of music from a trio giving their very first live performance together. What an honour it is to host three such accomplished musicians in our beautiful intimate venue. Meet the trio!Nick Woodmansey A.K.A. Emanative – Drums & Percussion
Led by drummer and producer Nick Woodmansey, Emanative have created a cosmic strand of multi-cultural UK jazz with African, Indian and Middle Eastern influences unlike any other act on the UK scene. Initially Emanative was an output for Woodmansey’s more beat-led productions which he began releasing in 2008. Over the course of well over a decade and a multitude of singles and full-length albums, the project has morphed – emanated – into a collaborative, jazz-influenced, outward-facing globally-inspired collective.
Suman Joshi – Bass
The driving force behind Eparapo is bassist, composer & producer Suman Joshi. Afrobeat supergroup Eparapo, came together during the unprecedented events of the pandemic and the Black Lives Matter movement, and despite being a project born from the privations of lockdown, their music is ultimately an expression of hope, resilience & resurgence. Joshi has also been a member of Dele Sosimi's Afrobeat Orchestra for over 15 years and was also bassist with UK jazz ensemble Collocutor and fusion project Cubafrobeat.
Chris Williams – Saxophone
Woodwind player and composer Chris Williams has been a stalwart in the rich London experimental scene for more than 20 years. Known for his fearless approach to improvising, Chris collaborates with a plethora of projects exploring improvisation and experimental music ranging from Mercury-finalists Led Bib and Sam Eastmond plays John Zorn’s Bagatelles to Sarathy Korwar and The Heliocentrics, alongside his co-led projects Let Spin and improv duo LEDLEY
