Darebin Repair Cafe is part of the international Repair Cafe movement to save items from landfill. Volunteer fixers work on broken items with the owner to repair and extend the life of household goods and to pass on the skills of repair.This is our 41st Darebin Repair Cafe and will be a drop in event as we do each year only in January cafe.
What to do -
Note- there will be no booking link.
On the day - drop into Span Community House, Thornbury, between 10am - 1pm.
(The last item accepted for repair at 12.30 to allow time to pack up)
Fixers available on the day will be
Electrical fixers - small household electrical appliances
Test and tag - checking appliances for safety
Sewing and darning - mending garments
General - general small mechanical and gluing repairs
No jewellery or Bike fixers available for this one.
We need help with organising/supporting the event and are always on the lookout for more fixers and also members for our coordination committee - please get in touch at Darebin [email protected]
There will be a Really, Really Free table where you can give away things. However, if they're not gone by the time you go home they must go with you as we have no storage.
