Fresh from the release of his critically acclaimed sophomore album with Trichotomy (4 stars in the Australian Review), Danny Widdicombe is releasing music with another band - The Wand’rin’ Stars. This time, the multiple award winning songwriter is back to his folk, country roots with this new release ‘Everything is New Again’. His hand picked band The Wand’rin’ Stars features the cream of Australian country music - Michel Rose on pedal steel (Slim Dusty, Troy Cassar-Daley, Sara Storer and more), Luke ‘Fiddleboy’ Moller on fiddle (Dolly Parton, Carrie Underwood, Kasey Chambers, and more), Brendan St Ledger on piano (Rene Geyer, Wendy Matthews and more), Gus Fenwick on bass (John Williamson, Troy Cassar-Daley, and more), and Doug Gallacher (Slim Dusty and many more).
‘Everything is New Again’ is a ballad set in the mind of a tired lonesome old renegade who’s struggling with his own demons. He needs invigorating - is it the new crescent moon? Is it the return of an old flame? What ever it is, it made him feel new again. The elixir tastes sweet. The song hangs from a framework built to convey a sound resembling Morricone Spaghetti Western soundtrack, while maintaining an Australian feel. It’s a cinematic love song.
The track was recorded live in the studio at Alchemix in Sth Brisbane - all the band members in a circle watching each other. This live recording gives a fresh sense of spontaneity to the performance. You can come and experience this musical exchange of spontaneity at their shows around the place as they slowly spread the word about this new band.
