Danny's entertainment career officially began in 1975 when he won a recording contract at CFCW's first-ever Country Star Search. Who could have known that this talent competition would be the launchpad for Danny's enviable 50-year career as a songwriter, recording artist, award-winning media personality, nightclub owner, comedian, fundraising auctioneer, and Master of Ceremonies?
Not only has he performed at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, at Disneyland in Anaheim, and during the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas (for 7 consecutive years), but he and his father Don opened Edmonton's first exclusive country music showroom, the unforgettable and incomparable Danny Hooper's Stockyard.
Even more remarkable, Danny is still going strong, performing at up to 80 special events each year. In fact, the 2025 edition of The Big Valley Jamboree will mark his 30th consecutive year as the Main Stage Master of Ceremonies.
We think a 50-year career is worth celebrating, so on Saturday, March 15, 2025, Danny and Barbie Hooper will host a fun-filled evening of entertainment at the Edmonton Inn, renowned for its hospitality, fantastic food, central location, acres of FREE parking, and great room rates ($114 while available, so book early).
This special evening, presented by 840 CFCW, will begin at 5:30 pm with a cocktail reception. Interesting memorabilia from Danny's career will be displayed as he mingles with the crowd, available for photos and autographs.
Following a delicious dinner of roasted chicken, BBQ St. Louis ribs, cabbage rolls, perogies, and all the fixin's, Danny will take the stage for a special concert set featuring your favorite 'Hooper Hits,' including John Deere Tractor Keys, What's a Girl Gonna Do (With a Boy Like That), He's Buying Roses Again, I'll Get Along Without You, and many more. As well, you can count on a whole bunch of hilarious stories that you've never heard before - some of them true, some of them pure BS - you'll have to decide.
Following Danny's concert, rising star BRANDON LORENZO (Danny's a huge fan) will take the stage with his kick-ass band for the dance party. This guy is hardcore traditional country, so be sure to wear your best dance boots/shoes!
