Danish Stars have been adding to the handcrafted hygge of Danish Christmases for generations. They are known by many other names - Nordic Stars, Christmas Stars, Froebel Stars - these beloved seasonal decorations are three-dimensional masterpieces that are surprisingly simple to construct. This is the perfect opportunity to learn how to make your own! Danish American instructor Christine Beaulieu will provide you with step-by-step instruction on how to turn simple strips of colorful paper into a beautiful 16-pointed star, and enough materials will be provided for you to make at least 5 stars with which to decorate your home or give away as gifts this season. Once you're done...you will want to go home and make even more!

Meet your instructor, Christine Beaulieu: Christine Beaulieu began her life in America, but she always treasured the inclusion of any Danish art, culture and traditions her Danish mother would introduce to their family life. Then, when her family moved to Denmark in the early 90s she got to experience such things first hand, and none could ever compare to the hyggelig joy of a Danish Christmas! From woven straw ornaments to woven paper hearts and stars, making your own Christmas ornaments seemed to her like the best kind of way to decorate for the season, and she dove right into learning these crafting traditions. Christine has always taken great joy from making things with her hands, and has been crafting consistently all her life, in many mediums. She shares her experience with the local Nordic community whenever she gets the chance, like in the Flower Crown area at the Oregon Midsummer and at the Nordic Knitting Circle's regular monthly meetings. In this class, she looks forward to sharing with participants the pleasure of transforming simple linear strips into three-dimensional sparkles of joy.
