Join us for a special event with Danielle Mckinney, the Rose Art Museum’s Perlmutter Artist-in-Residence, in conjunction with her first solo museum exhibition "Danielle Mckinney: Tell Me More." The artist, in conversation with Rose director and chief curator Dr. Gannit Ankori, will lead a tour of the show, exploring her jewel-like paintings of Black women within intimate and beautiful interiors. As the artist herself has said: “Each canvas is a portal—a place where I explore the soul, the self, and what it means to be free within one’s own space.” After the walkthrough, stay for a book launch of Mckinney’s debut book, "Danielle Mckinney: Beyond the Brushstroke" (Phaidon). This volume brings 50 of her paintings into conversation with journal prompts written by her mother, educator Barbara Mckinney, and includes space for the readers’ self-reflections. Books will be available for purchase at the Rose Art Museum, offering a chance to bring home a unique extension of Mckinney’s art and vision.
