Pianist - composer Daniel Meron and his trio deliver a set of highly melodic and expressive music. Featuring compositions from their newest release "Pendulum" on Pinch Records, the NYC-based group presents original modern jazz influenced by middle eastern and latin rhythms. Over the past decade Meron has established himself as a prominent figure in the modern jazz scene. Daniel Meron - Piano
Through his music, Brooklyn based pianist and composer Daniel Meron awakens listeners' deepest desires and feelings. Born in Israel to a family of Egyptian and Syrian descent, Meron integrates his love for improvisation into original compositions that are both sophisticated and lyrical, rich with influences from Jazz, Middle-Eastern and Latin American music. Meron’s multiple records have gained rave reviews from music critics and radio stations around the world.
For his newest record entitled Pendulum (2024 Pinch Records), Daniel has gathered some of New York’s most innovative and distinguished jazz musicians: Drummer Mark Whitfield Jr, bassist Tamir Shmerling, flutist Itai Kriss, and tenorist Jonathan Greenstein. Having performed together for a few years, the band explores the elusive and magical balance between the power of clarity and the excitement of spontaneity. Listening to Meron’s enchanting compositions played by such heavy-weight jazz improvisers provides a captivating experience both live and on the record.
Over the last decade, Meron has established himself as a prominent figure in the New York jazz scene, performing at venues such as Soho House, Mezzrow and the Museum of Natural History, playing the Jacksonville Jazz Festival, Costa Rica Jazz Festival, and touring Canada, Europe and Israel. Daniel graduated Berklee College of Music, where he was the winner of multiple scholarships and awards, and studied with masters such as Danilo Perez, Hal Crook and Joe Lovano. Along with his activities as a bandleader, Daniel continues to record and perform with multiple bands such as Electric Pool, Bunnicula, and the Arnan Raz Band.
Pablo Menares - Bass
Pablo Menares is a New York based bass player, originally from Santiago de Chile.
Throughout his career Menares has worked with many internationally recognized artists including Randy Brecker, Melissa Aldana, Greg Osby, Claudia Acuña, Camila Meza, Bob Moses, among many others.
He has performed in NYC's most notable jazz venues including Blue Note, Village Vanguard, Jazz Standard, Jazz Gallery, Smalls Jazz Club, Dizzy's Club, Birdland, 55 bar, and also at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and Steinway Hall. He has toured extensively in the United States, Europe, Asia, North, Central and South America.
Jimmy Macbride - Drums
Since moving to New York in 2009, drummer Jimmy Macbride has established himself as one of the most exciting and creative young voices on his instrument. Named as one of “25 For the Future” by Downbeat Magazine, Macbride is an extremely in-demand and highly regarded sideman, valued for his musicality, versatility, and adept touch on his instrument. Coming from an artistic family, Jimmy began playing drums at age 3 and gravitated toward jazz music at an equally young age. He is a graduate of the Juilliard School, where he studied with Carl Allen, Billy Drummond, and Kenny Washington. Since finishing his studies, Macbride has worked with some of the most important voices in jazz, including Terence Blanchard, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Jimmy Greene, Kevin Hays, and Steve Nelson. He regularly performs throughout New York City, at venues such as Dizzy’s Club, Smalls, The Jazz Gallery, and The Blue Note. In addition, Jimmy’s musical skills have also taken him worldwide, affording him the opportunity to perform at clubs and festivals on five continents, including the Newport Jazz Festival, North Sea Festival, Monterey Jazz Festival. A testament to his artistic range and willingness to be part of any musical situation, Jimmy can be seen performing and touring regularly with a wide variety of artists and groups, encompassing a vast array of styles. Some of these include Manuel Valera, Samuel Torres, Troy Roberts, Michael Rodriguez, Marshall Gilkes, Mike Moreno, Dave Kikoski, Nir Felder, and his wife and frequent collaborator Miki Yamanaka, among many others. He is also noted for his powerful and supportive drumming in a big band setting, appearing with the Mingus Big Band, Ryan Keberle’s All Ears Orchestra, and the Terraza 7 Big Band regularly. An active recording artist, Macbride has appeared on over 50 albums as a sideman to date.
