You know how to roll dice and read a character sheet — now it’s time to level up your actual play. The Player Practicum is a focused training session for new and growing roleplayers who want to get better at the craft of collaborative storytelling. This is not a beginner rules lesson — it’s an exploration of how to play with intention, confidence, and character depth.
We’ll cover practical, usable techniques such as:
• How to express your character’s goals and personality through actions
• Sharing spotlight time & supporting other players’ story arcs
• Using character flaws in a way that makes the game more fun
• Describing actions and roleplay choices vividly (without rambling)
• Staying immersed while respecting table pace and flow.
Then we’ll apply these techniques in a guided mini-scene exercise, giving you a chance to practice in a low-pressure environment.
Designed For:
• New players who want to improve quickly
• Players returning to the hobby and wanting modern playstyle skills
• Anyone joining open-table or campaign-play groups and wanting to fit in smoothly
• DMs who want to learn better player-side techniques
No prep required. No materials needed. Just bring curiosity and a willingness to explore new ways of playing.
