About this Event

Our ‘Working with Looked After Children & Substance Use Charter Mark of Good Practice’ supported by Northamptonshire County Council (now West Northamptonshire & North Northamptonshire Councils) and funded by Public Health England. This is an exciting opportunity to ensure all care providers are offering the same good practice across are county.

You must have attended "Care home professional D&A training" to attend this course.

  • Become the Drug & Alcohol lead worker for your placement (you must have completed the Care Home Professional D&A Training first)
  • Improve confidence and skills in discussing alcohol and drug use with young people and their carers
  • Increase awareness of commonly used substances and how they can affect physical and mental health of young people
  • Challenge the culture of substance use within Northamptonshire
  • Explore the impact of substance misuse on young people
  • Improve the quality of interventions used across Northamptonshire
  • Gain the use of key work resources to use with your young people
  • Learn about NGAGE and how and when to refer to them
