🌀WHAT TO EXPECT🌀
We would like to invite you to join to a memorable 24-hour adventure in movement, self-discovery, and transformation with us, Kristen Lewis and Valerie Sabbah!
We will guide you through a rigorous self-study process aimed at expanding the range and depth of your Contact-Improvisation and performance practices.
Kristen Lewis will delve into psychological insights gained from CI, exploring how it reveals relational habits and modes of performing and exposing the self. With a teaching practice that spans Contact-Improvisation and performance art practice, Kristen introduces approaches to exposing the multiplicity of personas we bring to the dance work ; methodologies include concrete engagement with embodied anatomy (including the organs of the pelvis as power sources), with emphasis on shadow aspects of the dancing self (including the role of aggression in a wholesomely developed dancing body).
Valerie Sabbah will focus on the body as the landscape for the dance, the significance of sound, and the non-fragmented, de-sexualized, de-politicized and the de-Instagramasized integration of the whole body. She will reach directly from the Tuning Score, the Small Dance, Material for the Spine, micro-multi-basing, and the opening of the endocrine and survival system, all aimed at optimizing body design and achieving full-body integration.
This event is designed for those ready to develop sensitivity at the outer edges of their practice, fine-tune their rituals for total awareness, and embrace self-agency. Participants will engage in a variety of activities, including a Saturday evening ritual performance element, which will deepen their connection to their practice, to each other, and to traditional roots of the Contact-Improvisation practice.
Join us in dancing through silence, fatigue, encounters with shadow and light, and the ever-changing base and center. Experience the projectile onslaught of winter through movement, as we explore the limits and possibilities of our bodies: see how much can change in 24 hours.

🌀PRICE FOR THE ADVENTURE 🌀
SLIDING SCALE: $200 - $250 - $300
Registrations beyond November 1st, accepted only if space permits
To accommodate a range of budgets, the event operates on a sliding scale of $200-$300, with a lower fee offered for professional dance artists (inquire if this is you). Workshop tuition covers studio rental, teacher stipend, and travel fees for a visiting artist (Valerie) joining us from her home in Montreal.

Nous aimerions vous inviter à rejoindre une aventure mémorable de 24 heures en mouvement, découverte de soi, et transformation avec nous, Kristen Lewis et Valerie Sabbah !
Nous vous guiderons à travers un processus rigoureux d’auto-exploration visant à élargir la portée et la profondeur de vos pratiques de Contact-Improvisation et de performance.
Kristen Lewis explorera les aperçus psychologiques gagnés à travers le CI, en examinant comment il révèle les habitudes relationnelles et les modes de performance, exposant ainsi le soi. Avec une pratique d’enseignement qui couvre le Contact-Improvisation et l'art de la performance, Kristen introduit des approches pour exposer la multiplicité des personas que nous apportons au travail de danse ; les méthodologies incluent un engagement concret avec l’anatomie incarnée (y compris les organes du bassin en tant que sources de puissance), avec un accent sur les aspects ombragés du soi dansant (y compris le rôle de l’agression dans un corps dansant sainement développé).
