About this Event
In the year 1895 Charles "Buddy" Bolden a Black Creole living at 2309 First St., New Orleans, Louisiana harnessed the free spirt of the Creole people long enough to create a new music for them. A new music called "Jass" later to be named "Jazz". This new music would break all the European laws of music and dance, it allowed complete freedom of expression to the "Jass" soloist and the "Jass "dancer. The "Jass" dancers would interpret their troubles, their love -sorrows, loss, anger, and most of all, their JOY while dancing the "Jass"
Join us for a 2 hour workshop and experience the evolution of dancing the "Jass to Jazz" . The participants will be introduced to the art of improvisation, interpetation, and the freedom of expression.
