Do you ever get the feeling that you want to dance in a parade with freakishly long jaws and jagged teeth like a Monster? Of course you do.
Well now you can!
Join Naomi Nomespotter (modelling a Monster she made in pic above) to explore this strange urge, unleash your creativity and dive into the fun of monster-making starting with the basics.
We'd love you and your Monster to join us in the upcoming parades for Fringe Festival on March 23rd. The patron River animal for this parade will be Rakali/Water Rat, so it would be great to see some people making a Rakali mask.
Presenters:
Naomi is a local mixed media artist with a love for all things monster!
Known for her playful and whimsical (maybe a little creepy) creations, Naomi primarily works in clay, but her background in textile art and shoemaking adds depth to her unique style. This diverse experience enables her to construct vibrant monster costumes that capture lots of attention during the Dancing Monster parades.
The workshop will be assisted by local community artist Daniel Havey. An originator of the Dancing Monsters Community, he will provide some background as well as musical accompaniment for any Monster movement that happens in the workshop.
This is the first of 2 mask making workshops held in the lead up to the Parade on the 23rd of March.
Bring cardboard, scissors and Monster vibes.
All ages welcome.
The 2025 Dancing Monsters Community Parade is proudly supported by grants via the Suzanne Elliott Charitable Trust and @CityofPAE
