About this Event
As we approach the end of the year, come dance in the dark - a gentle, full-moon charged space to release, reconnect, and remember what it feels like to simply be.
Here, you can move freely and without judgment - nobody watching, just you and the music.
My name is Ashley, i'm a Scottish born integrative psychotherapist. (You can read more about me at www.aotherapy.com.au) This gathering carries a personal thread for me. I was once a participant of Helen’s, drawn to her beautiful Dancing in the Dark offering. I still remember buying a ticket and then not attending because I was going alone - something many of us know too well. And then… no looking back. Her space planted a quiet seed in me, one I’ve held with gratitude. I’m honoured to offer something inspired by her work, in my own way, with deep respect for what she gifted to myself and many others.
This is not a dance class or a performance, this is expressive arts therapy; an invitation into your body. With a few tea lights and no mirrors, you’re free to follow your breath, your rhythm, and your internal cues. You’re welcome to come alone or with someone you trust; either way, you’ll be gently held.
What to Wear
Wear whatever helps you feel comfortable and free to move.
I’m a barefoot, leggings, singlet, and jumper to strip off once I warm-up kind of person, and you’re welcome to dress in whatever supports your body to feel safe, warm, and unrestricted.
Landing & Closing
We open and close with a few minutes of stillness on the mat to help your nervous system transition from the pace of the year into your own inner landscape. From there, you’re invited to move however your body needs: slow, wild, tender, grounded, messy, playful… all of your parts belong.
At the end, there’ll be herbal tea, a small treat, and space to unwind or connect if you choose. No pressure.
