Danceteria is a safe space for sound and movement exploration in community. Guest of Honor Cuauhtli Ramirez Castro (he/him).
About this Event

Created in 2019 as an accessible forum for artists and non-artists to improvise and socialize outside of the hierarchical structure of art organizations, Danceteria is returning with a series of public events designed to inspire and support creative development in-person at the Milwaukee LGBT Community Center. This event is open to people ages 18 and over with a suggested donation of $15.

Participants will be empowered to follow their own inspiration following a guided community offering by Guest of Honor Cuauhtli Ramirez Castro (he/him) inspired by the idea of synesthesia*. Synesthesia is a neurological phenomenon experienced by 2-5% of people resulting in mixed or crossed sensory experiences. For example, a person might see green when they hear the name "Alex" or taste citrus when they read the word "street. Danceteria participants will improvise in a super-sensory environment.

He studied Performing Artsat the University of Guanajuato having a multidisciplinary approach, combining contemporary dance and acting techniques in his training. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a BFA in Contemporary Dance Performance and Choreography (2021).
