This summer is for PLEASURE! Music will have a little less crunch, jangle, speed, and wildness. We will save the hard stuff for a different season. Themes will be about feeling GOOD and following what we love.
July 16 is about JUICE - It's about the drip of juice from fresh fruit. It's about things being appealing and yummy. It's about water, too. Sweet water.
***
Each time we gather we begin by relaxing into our bodies and pausing to allow our full selves to arrive. Then we explore the theme in various ways - sharing, moving, playing - to prime ourselves for expression and weave our group together.
Dance is the main event. The hour-long playlist will carry you through an experience of gradual opening, energy building, transformation, release, integration, and rest.
The dance is for free-form expression of however you are in the moment. We practice letting go and letting come, in a consent-based space.
When the music is finished there will be time for optional sharing about anything that happened during the dance. Then we close and return to our lives, with more attunement to our bodies and ourselves.
Any form of dancing or movement is allowed as long as it is safe for everyone. All people of all sizes, types, and ages welcome.
Registration not required.
Pay as able $10-20 for each dance. Venmo @JStar-Williams or cash at the dance. A lot goes into the creation of this experience and everyone's contribution is needed to keep it going.
The dance is OUTDOORS behind the building.
Things to consider bringing:
**Water - very important!
**Clothing to keep you comfortable - temp changes as the day wanes, and it can be hot in mid-summer
**A blanket or mat to be on - to give a little comfort on the ground
**Shoes, I prefer soft-soles so I can feel the ground. Some go without shoes (at their own risk)
**Long pants or socks - if grasses and plants can be pokey to you
**A light for navigation in late September and October.
**If you feel moved to do so: something to share: poem, song, snack, a beautiful item, rattle, etc.
Take care of yourself. You are responsible for your well-being.
Check in with yourself often to make sure everything you are doing feels good to you. It can be easy to get overwhelmed or follow the group when you really would be more comfortable with something else. It is always ok to do something different if it will feel more supportive for you. Take responsibility for your experience, including by letting Jeanie know if you have a suggestion or need support around something.
