WCUW is presenting two huge dance party events, back-to-back, not only to help raise summer funds, but also to celebrate two legendary DJs who graced the airwaves of WCUW for many years! That would be Paul Lauzon on air from 1999 to 2025 and Milton Cordiero, who was on air from 1984 to 2020!
It all starts with a SOCK HOP TRIBUTE in the WCUW FRONT ROOM on Saturday, August 23rd - Doors Open at 7 PM. This very special tribute is to honor the late Paul Lauzon, the DJ King of Rock' n' Roll! 1942 ~ 2025
The special Sock Hop celebration for Paul Lauzon will feature music from Paul's archive and will be spun by Paul's nephew, Eric, and son, John Lauzon. Additionally, there will be a musical performance by Elvis impersonator Dan Fontaine - https://newenglandelvis.com/bio. "Dan Fontaine is an award-winning Elvis Tribute Artist, and has competed at Images of The King and Ultimate Elvis festivals/competitions nationally and internationally."
And the Dance Party continues on Sunday, August 24th, 5 PM with Philadelphia-based April Mae & the June Bugs, who will present a unique blend of Doo Wop, Boogie-woogie, and Swing in tribute to former WCUW Oldies DJ Milton Cordiero - 1943 – 2022.

Milton Cordiero - 1943 – 2022
Also known as Uncle Milty, Milton was the resident authority on Doo Wop; his ardor for Doo Wop reflected through both the wide range of material he played for listeners and his rapport with his audience. Cordiero could be counted on to dig into his record library for all-time gems like ''Yakety Yak," "Charlie Brown" or "Poison Ivy," by The Coasters or "Blue Moon" by The Marcels. Cordiero's reverence for the tracks and artists he selected for airtime was as constant as the baseball cap he wore behind the microphone.
All monies raised on behalf of these events, as well as our on-air campaign starting August 4th, will be matched up to $10,000 by an anonymous donor. Admission to the concerts is a goodwill donation. If you won't be able to attend either event, but would still like to help, please visit www.wcuw.org and donate via the Big Green Button!
Many thanks to author Rodney Lee for his insights on Paul Lauzon and Milton Cordiero. And a special thanks to our anonymous donor!
