Dance Meets ArtSunday, September 15, 1:00-3:00 pm
Movement exploration is for everyone, whether you call yourself a dancer or not. Valerie Williams, founder of Co’Motion Dance Theater, will guide you to create your own movement sequence in response to the Arts as Alchemy "Forgetting to Remember Pieces of Me" exhibit by Deb Kline. Rather than a direct interpretation of the art presented, the images, music, and/or poetry will serve as a prompt with the individual free to explore what is stirred from within them and expand on it in an original way. Choose a solo, duet, or trio dance to share with each other. Dancers are invited to perform for an audience at the Arts as Alchemy Participant Showcase on Friday, September 20th @ 6:30 pm . Workshop registration is free with RSVP requested by emailing [email protected].
Information about the exhibit and more workshops and events can be found here: https://uufames.org/gallery/
Support is provided by the National Endowment for the Arts and the Iowa Arts Council, which exists within the Iowa Economic Development Authority; City of Ames Commission on the Arts; Ames Community Arts Council; Gallery in the Round within the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Ames; Co’Motion Dance Theater; and Wellspring Wellness.
