Dance Liberation Circle

I'm Christina, and I'm a recovering perfectionist and a mediocre dancer.
I created the Dance Liberation Circle because dance floors are either empty, or stiff,
and that’s a serious problem. It’s a symptom of how disconnected our society has become.
We’ve become increasingly afraid of embarrassing ourselves. We’re terrified others will judge us, be offended by us, post us on social media… the list really goes on & on.
This isn’t a personal critique, because honestly? Me too.
It’s not you. It's a result of centuries of social conditioning that tells us our collective joy is childish, naive and pointless.
But the times... they are a-changin.
We’re realizing we need spaces to be goofy and stupid and imperfect.
History and human anthropology point to the best place to do that:
the dance floor.
So, what is the Dance Liberation Circle exactly?
It's an in-person workshop series for all of us. If you’ve ever felt your heart beat out of your chest trying to muster up the courage to _____ (fill in the blank - get up and dance, speak up at a meeting, ask that person to coffee…)
…we use the dance floor as a vehicle to overcome the freeze, look within, and liberate ourselves from the invisible shackles that hold us back.
We meet once a week, and each session is a different workshop. The topics are endless.
Not every week includes dancing, and that's on purpose!
Sometimes we’re just chattin’, other times we get up and move.
Come every week, or just the ones you’re curious about. Workshop schedule below.
If you think this sounds interesting, but it makes you a little nervous and you're worried it'll be embarrassing - this was designed with you in mind. Because, yes, I have that same anxiety too when I step into dance spaces.
No matter what week you come, you can expect two things:
