Join Tarfa Salem and the Carolina Peace Resource Center for a 90 Minute Middle Eastern Dance Class featuring the Dabke to raise funds for UNRWA. No dance experience is required. All levels welcome.
Participants are asked to make a donation to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees and show a screenshot for entry. Give what you can and if you cannot give, please still come as no one will be turned away for inability to donate.
Following the 1948 war, UNRWA was established by United Nations General Assembly Resolution 302 (IV) of 8 December 1949 to carry out direct relief and works programs for Palestine refugees. The Agency began operations on the 1st of May 1950. The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) is funded almost entirely by voluntary contributions from UN member states. UNRWA also receives some funding from the regular budget of the United Nations which is used mostly for international staffing costs.
