For over a decade, the Travel & Culture Group has been bringing people together to journey into different cultures without ever leaving Omaha... no jet lag, no TSA lines, and definitely no lost luggage. Once a month, we gather for an evening of cultural discovery. Each month highlighting a different destination, tradition, or country. What started on Meetup.com more than 10 years ago has grown into a vibrant Omaha community that’s hosted countless events on travel, culture, food, and everything in between.Now we’re inviting YOU (and your friends, your family, and that one coworker who keeps saying they “need to get out more”) to join us for a special evening learning about Día de los Muertos, one of Mexico’s most colorful and meaningful traditions 🌸💀🎶
Here’s what’s happening on Wednesday, Oct 22nd at the German American Society:
- Doors open at 6pm (yes, the German American Society bar is open, so feel free to grab a beverage if you'd like).
- At 7:00pm, enjoy a fascinating talk introducing the history, traditions, and folklore of Día de los Muertos.
- Enjoy a vibrant performance by Ritmo y Raíz dancers, coming to town just to dace at our event!
- End with a Q&A — your chance to ask all those questions you’ve been storing up since watching the movie Coco.
No costumes required, no carving pumpkins, no Halloween candy handed out (and fewer sugar crashes). Instead, this is a chance to sit down, listen, learn, and witness the meaning behind Día de los Muertos in a fun, welcoming setting.
