Dance Blues Friday - 10/03/2025🎶What is Blues Dancing🎶
Blues dancing is a dance style deeply rooted in blues music and Black American history, starting in late 1800s along side regional blues music. It encompasses various styles, often characterized by its improvisational nature, close connection with a partner or solo, and expressive movements that mirror the emotions of the blues.
Blues dancing focuses on rhythm, musicality, and connection, allowing dancers to interpret and respond to the music in a personal and emotive way.
📅DATE: October 3, 2025
🕗LESSON: 8:00pm-9:00pm - Ballroomin'
👠👞DANCE: 9:00pm-11:30pm
🎟️ADMISSION: $10 general admission/$8 for students and seniors. Pay with cash, Zelle, Venmo, or Paypal (add 25¢ for electronic payment)
📍LOCATION: STUDIO 5 - FORMER LINDY LAB STUDIO at Triangle Dance Studios (TDS), 2603 S. Miami Blvd, Durham (middle door of the building on the far part of the parking lot when you pull in from Miami Blvd - look for the RDU Blues sign on the door!)
COVID PROTECTION REQUIREMENTS: Masks are encouraged!

The beginner's lesson included with admission will begin at 8:00 PM. No partner required!
The beginner lessons are taught in a series of 8 progressive lessons that can be taken in any order (Blues Foundations, Connection, Open & Solo, Close Embrace, Traveling, Musicality, Jukin', and Ballroomin').
Open social dancing to DJed Blues music is from 9:00 until 11:30pm
