Dan Mangan is a two-time JUNO award-winning and two-time Polaris Music Prize-listed musician and songwriter. He lives in Vancouver, British Columbia with his wife and two sons. He has released five studio LPs on Arts & Crafts, and toured extensively in North America, Europe and Australia. Dan also scored the feature film Hector And The Search For Happiness, starring Simon Pegg, as well as television shows for Netflix and AMC. In 2017, he co-founded Side Door, a community marketplace platform for the arts that seeks to democratise and decentralise the entertainment industry by allowing any space to be a venue.
Dan’s new single In Your Corner (for Scott Hutchison) is a direct response to the indie-rock anthem The Woodpile from Scotland’s Frightened Rabbit, and is dedicated to the outfit’s late and dearly missed songwriter, Scott Hutchison. With the lines ‘Leave a light on when it’s bad / We will congregate and make a plan / We’ll be in your corner’ Dan is replying to Hutchison’s question, ‘Will you come back to my corner? / Spent too long alone tonight’.
‘We’d only met once but Scott’s passing eviscerated me. He was my age and very close with several dear friends of mine,’ says Mangan. ‘Either he couldn’t see how deeply he was loved by the world, or he didn’t feel worthy of it. How come he could bring joy to so many people but not to himself? I remember weeping as I poured cereal for my boys that morning. This song came very quickly in the days that followed.’
Tour support comes from Núria Graham. Nuria Graham’s journey in music began when she released her first demo (First Tracks) in 2013 and was sixteen years old. Trained in classical guitar, the Catalan-Irish artist started writing songs and experimenting with electric guitar sounds, piano and production, and hasn’t stopped developing her sound since then. Her first record Bird Eyes was released two years later, and a four-song EP, In the Cave. Not long after that she released her second album, Does it Ring a Bell?, a raw album recorded with her band that took her songwriting to a new level.
After a tour that took her to the stages of the most relevant festivals and venues in the country with incursions into Portugal, Germany, France and London; Núria released Marjorie (2020), an exquisite album that she presented at Sala Apolo (Barcelona) with a sold-out show. She then released At Last (2021), a two-song single that acts as a hinge between Marjorie and new sonic stage. A magical journey through ten songs that captured the attention of national and international audiences and press (BBC, Atwood Magazine, Fame, etc).
Now she is presenting a new music era with iconic labels Verve Forecast (USA), New Deal, Universal Music and Primavera Labels (Spain). It will culminate with a new album in January, Cyclamen. Produced by Nuria herself with dreamy textures, wind and string arrangements, playing with elements and influenced by classical music, film music and jazz, it is a new approach to Núria’s oneiric world and visions.
