Lucy Clifford:
"Lucy Clifford is a bassist and composer hailing from Sydney’s South Coast. She has performed, recorded and toured with an array of international artists including Nella, Mariza and Alita Moses. Closer to home, she has been an active member of the Australian music community in the jazz and pop worlds, performing with Kate Ceberano, Katie Noonan, and Urthboy. She was the recipient of the 2022 Jann Rutherford Memorial Award and her debut album ‘Between Spaces of Knowing’ is set for release on November 15th via ABC Jazz.
This concert will feature material from her new album, an instrumental offering of jazz and improvised music, capturing the spirit of collaboration, and shedding light on the often-unsung instrument, the electric bass. The album intertwines lyrical soundscapes colliding with infectious grooves and draws inspiration from life’s in-between moments of contemplation and reflection, where we meet our real selves. This performance will feature some of Sydney’s most notable artists in improvised music, including Thomas Avgenicos on trumpet, David Reglar on tenor saxophone, Felix Lalanne on guitar and Alex Hirlian on drums.
