This is probably the last show at Jack's Joint. It's a bittersweet feeling to put together the last show for the great Damon Smith. He has been an amazing partner for Jack's Joint, and we are so lucky that he took to the place. In the new manifestation of Jack's Joint, Damon will be our first call!
For this night, we bring four great artists, featuring the great pianist from Turkey, Ipek Eginli.

K. Curtis Lye - voice, poetry
Alex Cunningham - violin
+
Ipek Eginli (Atlanta/New York/Istanbul) - piano
Damon Smith - double bass

K. Curtis Lyle should be a well-known figure in St. Louis at this point. If you like poetry, and you haven't seen Curtis, you haven't seen it all in STL. He is arguably the best poet to read in St. Louis right now, and historically. There is no one like him.
Alex Cunningham is the most out of the box violin player in town. He is likely to do a host of things that you have never seen a violin player do. His imagination with the instrument is amazing, and he play straight with excellence, also.
Damon Smith is a world renown double bass player who knows everybody. He has been a dear friend to Jack's Joint, and we couldn't be more grateful for his contribution to the venue.
Ipek Eginli is super advanced pianist who will blow all of our minds on this evening. Her website is https://ipekeginli.com/ and you can find plenty of information on her there. We have copied/pasted her bio for your convenience.

Ipek Eginli is a Turkish-American experimental sound artist and improviser who describes her music-making as “a process of a creation and a creation of a process.” Her ever-evolving creative process involves electroacoustic free improvisation on piano, voice, modular synthesizers, and no-input mixing boards. Eginli’s work is often described as adventurous, daring, playful, and vibrant. Watching her perform, one can witness a dynamic sonic exploration, effortlessly shifting between organic and mechanical sounds while evoking a range of emotions, from tender and soft to dark and explosive. She explores the convergence of acoustic and electronic sounds, blurring and, at times, overemphasizing the lines between the two to create surprising sonic illusions and interactions.
Her electroacoustic solo debut album is set to be released in June 2024, coinciding with her invitation to perform at the New York Electroacoustic Music Festival. Additionally, the releases of another solo album and an improvised duet album with cellist Daniel Levin are planned for late summer 2024.
In 2023, Eginli was awarded a composer-performer residency at the Westben Centre for Connection & Creativity in Canada. During the same year, she also received a prestigious grant from the largest theater company in the southeast, the Alliance Theater, as the lead artist for the multimedia project “Hold on To Your Names.” This project showcases the works of immigrant women artists from Turkey, Iran, and Colombia through sound, multimedia, and movement, aiming to empower immigrant women to embrace their given names and share their stories, fostering a greater understanding of their challenges and cultural identities through art.
As an entrepreneur and educator, she serves as the founder and director of PianoAlpharetta, a renowned piano academy located in Georgia, USA. This academy, with its 15-year-old history, offers comprehensive piano education to over 400 students, providing them with a forward-looking and creativity-fostering approach. In her role, she oversees all operations, collaborates closely with her staff, supervises faculty members, and orchestrates performances throughout the year.
Eginli holds a Doctorate of Musical Arts in piano performance from the University of Georgia, with a research emphasis on piano pedagogy. She also holds a master’s degree in piano performance from Purchase College, State University of New York, and a Bachelor’s degree from Mimar Sinan University State Conservatory in her hometown Istanbul, Turkey.
In the last two decades, Eginli has performed hundreds of solo, chamber, and orchestral performances at various renowned venues and festivals across Turkey, Austria, the Netherlands, Germany, and numerous cities in the United States.
