Byes: Up to 2 half-point byes are available, but must be requested before the tournament begins, during registration or via email at [email protected].
**Please note that round 5 byes are worth ZERO points. They will NOT give you any points.**
Forced byes: If there is an odd number of players in a round, one player, determined by the pairing system, will be getting a FULL POINT forced bye. This does not count towards the 2 half-point byes.
Forfeits: Any player who doesn’t show up within the first hour of the beginning of the round will be forfeited for the round unless they have requested a “bye” beforehand. All forfeited games will be treated as a loss, resulting in getting a score of 0 for the round, as well as losing rating points.
Some important things to note are:
• If you do not have an active CFC membership, you will NOT be able to play. If you plan to participate, please make sure you have a CFC membership, and that your CFC membership is active.
• The rounds will not start before the scheduled times, but everyone is responsible for being there when the round starts. Even if you are late, the clocks will start when the beginning of a round is announced.
• When a game is over, please walk up to the tournament director’s desk with your opponent to fill out the score sheet, where you will write your name and result next to your board number (board number would be next to the board you played on).
• After finishing a game each round, you are free to stay in the room and watch others play. However, you must remain quiet. If someone is being loud and/or distracting, they will be asked to leave the room until the next round.
• Food options around the SUB and CHEB are limited. We would highly recommend bringing your own food.
• There are streets near the tournament location with free parking on the weekends. (ie. Henry St and Seymour St. near SUB, College St. and Summer St. near CHEB). Although we can’t guarantee anyone a spot, we hope that you can find a free parking space.
