$30/20Geoff's Jazz at Smith's kicks off the 2026 season hard in early Feb.
After living overseas for quite some time, master saxophonist Dale Barlow has returned to Sydney and combined forces with drummer Andrew Dickeson to renew a musical relationship that goes back almost 40 years..
Their previous performances have been to enthusiastic packed houses – and this one promises to be bigger and better!
Barlow has long been one of the leading lights of Modern Jazz in Australia - as well as his illustrious international career with greats such as Art Blakey, Cedar Walton, Chet Baker and many more.
Andrew Dickeson is one of Australia’s busiest and most prominent drummers and band leaders and has worked with a veritable “who’s who” of Australian and International jazz legends.
Their working band joins them with two of Australia’s finest musicians: Hugh Barrett on piano and Jacob Graham on bass.
This will be a night of cooking “Hard Bop” rarely heard in Canberra. The band will be featuring classic tunes from Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers, Cedar Walton and more , some classic standards, as well as some beautiful original music.
