Chapel Sessions Music presents Daisy Chapman
We are particularly excited to be welcoming Daisy and Sue back to Chapel Sessions to showcase Daisy's new album "She Took Flight". We can guarantee an evning of skillfully crafted songs, both poignant and uplifting, from two exceptional artists. Daisy has an inimitable style which is difficult to describe and really has to be experienced to fully appreciate the depth and soul of her performances.
Daisy’s sound: Singer-songwriter, pianist and string arranger Daisy Chapman is a well- travelled musician who draws influences from both anti-folk and classical music. It's hard to describe Daisy Chapman's own style - a fictitious meeting of Neil Hannon with Regina Spektor may be the first attempt at a description. Live, each song holds a dark tale of love, lust and loss, through the voice of Daisy Chapman and Sue Lord on violin.
The latest album: With "She Took Flight", Daisy Chapman once again underlines her quality as a songwriter and arranger. She speaks to us in the usual skilful way, with a rich and full sound. Her music is as warm as it is detailed, punchy and cinematic. Take ‘ Womxn’ for example, a song chronicling the list of women whose work was credited by men, ‘ Wind Horses’ , an epic cinematic nod to all who’ve attempted to climb the world’s highest peaks, but left something behind, and ‘ Porcelain’ , a heart-wrenching diary entry from the day her father died in hospital. String sections, percussion and trumpet support the piano and Daisy’s voice in telling these elaborate stories. Tales with a lot of humour that focus on life as a woman in the 2020s, as a mother and about family life as an artist.
