This is the 9th year we are doing Dairy for Kari. Each year from 6pm to closing that day, any purchase of our items with ice cream, that money is to be donated to the Kari Heart Foundation. Until then we are giving away a shirt for any $20 donation. And any donation of $1 or more you can write a name on one of the Dairy for Kari cards we hang up in the store. This is a great foundation started locally in honor of Kari Schoondyke. She was born in August of 2008 with a life threatening congenital heart disease and underwent open heart surgery at just 9 days old. She had a second open heart procedure just a few months later in March of 2009. She unfortunately did not survive the recovery of this one. And died on April 7th 2009, she was just 7 months old. Her family started the foundation to pass the love and lend support to other families with the goal of making an unimaginable situation a little better. Such as a Karing Bag (bag filled with useful items for the family while in the hospital), transportation, temporary housing (like hotels when families do not live close enough to the hospitals, food and so much more. We are proud to support this foundation and look forward to the event every year.
