Are you passionate about dairy cattle breeding, increasing milk production, reducing costs, adding value to milk products, or even making your own dairy feed? If so, come and learn from one of the most profitable dairy farms in Kenya which began with just a single heifer in 2010 and now produces over 500litres of milk daily. This remarkable one-acre farm in Githunguri is home to high-yielding pedigree cows, low-yielders, in-calf heifers, weaned calves and even several breeds of dairy goats.TRENDIFARM, located in the heart of Githunguri town, just a few meters from the famous Fresha Milk Company, is an exceptional farm. It stands out as one of the best-manage dairy cattles and goat farms in the country, producing high-yielding cows for both milk production and sale.
Githunguri is renowned for producing some of the highest milk-yielding dairy cows in Kenya. The region's rich agricultural tradition, favorable climate, and advanced farming practices have help establish Githunguri as a leading hub for dairy farming in the country. Dairy farmers here, including Trendifarm, prioritize the well-being and health of their cattle, which leads to increased milk production and overall profitability.
At Trendifarm, the cows are treated with exceptional care by Veterinary Doctor Wanjau who has been in Animal Health care since 2013. They are calmed by soothing slow jam and classic music, receive regular pedicures and grooming to keep them clean, and sleep on comfortable cubicles to ensure maximum comfort — all of which contribute to higher milk yields.
The farm is owned by Mr.Ndichu a retired teacher, managed by madam Mary, whose cows produce over 30 litres of milk per day, a milestone many dairy farmers in Kenya aspire to achieve. According to madam Mary, good management is key to success. Like many farmers, he began with no experience or knowledge, yet through dedication and learning, he has become one of Kenya’s best dairy farmers. Most of the feed for the cows comes from crops he grows on his farm, allowing him to control the quality and cost of feed.
"Achieving both quality and quantity in milk production is all about providing the right feed and concentrates, maintaining proper records, and making sound management decisions, including financial prudence," says madam Mary.
