OmniArts Nebraska is beginning its 14th Season of productions and events with an original performance, Daily Pages, a theatrical poetry reading based on the daily writings of OmniArts Managing Artistic Director, Dustin Witte. Since January first, 2021, Witte has been starting each day by responding to a writing prompt or by composing and editing original poetry. Over these past few years, he has accumulated nearly 1,500 individual entries of poetry, journaling, and short dialogues. Daily Pages is comprised of approximately 50 pieces and will be read, performed and interpreted by an ensemble cast in addition to Witte, featuring Jillian Carter, Andy Dillehay, and Erin Mills.
The selected pieces will be drawn at random each night, making each 60-minute performance unique, with a different order of pieces read by different actors. The content of poetry ranges from novel observations of nature, imaginative musings, experimental dialogues, and personal reflections.
Dustin Witte has been writing poetry as long as he can remember. As an English major at Doane University from 2001-2005, his work was featured in XANADU, the University’s annual literary publication, and was honored with the Marianne Clarke Writing award multiple years in a row. He is excited to combine his love of creative writing with his dedication to collaborative performing arts, and is grateful to BLIXT for providing a space to share this work with the community.
This event is free and open to the public, but donations are appreciated.
