Have you been bitten by the dahlia ‘bug’ but now the season is over you are not quite sure what to do with your plants? Do you lift or keep in the ground? Maybe you want to increase your plant stock or just share some tubers with friends?
Dahlia’s can be reasonably easy to grow…but depending on your soil type…can be much harder to divide, keep and store well over winter to ensure they come back for a new year of abundant blooms.
About the workshop:
In this comprehensive and hands-on workshop we are going to share all our secrets to having plump, healthy and premium dahlia tubers ready for planting next spring such as:
Which dahlias can be left in the ground and which ones need lifting & storing.
How to properly dig your dahlias (it’s not as simple as you think!)
How to correctly wash and dry your tubers.
Dividing dahlias - each participant will divide a clump.
Techniques, tips and tools for dividing dahlias.
Parts of a tuber including how to identify ‘eyes’ and the best times to see them.
Which tubers will shoot and which ones will never grow.
How to store to ensure best quality tubers to plant in spring.
Q & A about growing Dahlias with Emma and the Earthenry Team.
Includes:
Workshop notes, a delicious afternoon tea + refreshments and a pair of our favourite floral snips that are perfect for dividing tubers.
Special offer:
Each workshop participant will also go home with one tuber of their choice from our upcoming 2024 new release Earthenry Farm bred dahlias, along with a packet of Earthenry Farm Dahlia Seed collected from the 23-24 season field. You'll also get some take-home other named dahlia varieties.
