February Moderator - Dan Gottlieb
Photographer Dan Gottlieb’s studio practice investigates boundaries of environmental andhuman movement/dislocation. Having spent forty years creating cultural spaces and environments for art in the public realm, he focuses his creative life on personal perspectives that convey a subjective aesthetic to depict nature and the human condition, sometimes void of edges or boundaries. Visual ambiguity and mystery are core to his picture-making, as are a deep interest in environmental sciences and material process of picture making. His exhibitions, Figure Ground, Season Five, SWAMP, and Forest Portraits are ongoing multi-year series that explore forest environments: human and climate-induced wildfire and their impacts on fragile ecosystems and human culture.
