Dachsland Krampuslauf (Badgerland Krampus Run) fourth annual parade will kick off on Library Mall at 5 pm, Saturday December 7th, 2024. Meet between Memorial Library (728 State Street) and the University Book Store (711 State Street). There will be Krampus music starting at 4:30 pm. The parade goes up the State Street sidewalks, around the square, and ends at Prost! a German Beer Hall & Restaurant (401 E. Washington Avenue).In addition to Krampus and his Krampus friends, you're likely to see St. Nick and some Angels, Perchten, Hexen, and other Alpine winter folklore figures. Musicians will lead the way!
Other traditional folklore figures and those in attire of the season are welcome to participate in the parade.
While many spectators prefer to join us on the "run," you may wish instead to sit somewhere and watch us go by, such as:
-Benches along State Street
-Window seats at your favorite State Street dining establishment
Beware, you never know who will catch a Krampus' eye!
Who can participate? Everyone!
-Free and open to the public
Bringing kids?
-We highly recommend doing some quick research to determine if this would be appropriate for your own children. There are plenty of videos on the internet that will give you a feel for the event. We also have stills and videos on the Dachsland Krampus fan page
Rough Outline:
-4:30 pm - Krampus music to get us in the mood
-4:50 pm - Welcome and a few precautions
-4:55 pm - Official photo opportunities
-5:00 pm - Krampuslauf heads up State Street towards the Capitol -Square
-5:20 pm - Official photo opportunities at the top of State Street
-5:30 pm - Krampuslauf continues towards E Washington Ave and Prost
-5:50 pm - Arrive at Prost, where Dachsland Krampuslauf 2024 ends and dining* opportunities await
*by dining we're not referring to children... we prefer the schnitzel with gravy
