Time to put the agility and climbing to work. From the base to the Obelisk is a lift of 320ft.
There are two ways up.
Stairs or a steep grass embankment.
Consider car shares. Crossing the ferry at 6:20pm should have you parking up by 6:50pm latest.
Park in the lay by at the base of the climb. Arriving after 7pm? No problem. The turn point is right beside the lay-by so you will see us and then join in after you have warmed up.
Official start time - 7pm onwards.
A considered warm up of flat jog and mobility activations will be presented.
Keep climbing for 60-80 minutes - your choice.
Fancy just a couple of reps and then a ridgeway run then shoot off and rejoin . An open invite to this spectacular training hill and madmules favorite over the years.
Can't make 7pm? Arrive when you can and join in for as many reps as your training plan or adventurous spirit requires.
A great space to practice using your poles.
A gnarly descent both ways that will test your nerve and body.
6 reps - 2000ft
10 reps - 1km
I will be taking the 6:20pm crossing and can take 3 people.
Full Moon rise 5:13pm, so if it is a clear night then the hill and obelisk will be lit up.
PLEASE NOTE: this is not a coaching session and reps are independent to your own ability and should be determined by your current fitness level and future goals. The hill takes approx 5-7 mins to climb and 2-4 mins to descend.
Head torches essential. Dress accordingly to the weather. Good trail shoe grip required for the varying surfaces on descent.
