D-Day Story Special - The Connections between New Brighton and Normandy Saturday 4th January 12pm till 2pm Talk & Walking Tour Starting at Fort Perch Rock
You will Learn about the connections between Normandy and New Brighton. Our WW2 Historian will also give you a brief outline of Operation Overlord and the Allied Assaults in Normandy to the Liberation of Paris.
Tony Franks-Buckley is the National Vice-Chairman of the Italy Star Association and has been conducting WW2 History Tours for over 13 Years. He is the Nephew of Normandy Veteran John Dennett and Together they have travelled back to Normandy for Memorial Services and Research Trips.
Whilst the Men were fighting overseas, the Women were keeping Britain afloat. So You will learn about Life on the Homefront, local Rationing, The Dig for Victory Campaign, The Blitz, Ladies and their new duties, Evacuation, The US Army, German Spies, The AA Guns at the Red Noses, The Maunsell Forts in the River Mersey, War Dances at the Tower Ballroom & So Much More. You will be visiting all the old sites and shown photographs on how changes have ocurred from then to now.
Pop in for a Tea, Coffee or Hot Chocolate before the Tour starts or a bite to eat. We can also reserve a table for after the Tour finishes where further talks on history will continue with our Historian & Author. Aunty Mo’s Wartime Scouse is available on the Menu.
