Tena koutou e hoa ma. ?Come along for our October monthly vegan potluck, from 12pm till 2pm on October the 6th, at ‘The Apartment’ at 35 Dowling Street in the inner city. We'd love for you to join us. ??
From 1.15-2pm one of our DŌVeS co-organisers, Duke, will be hosting a hui about the Plant Based Treaty, and a campaign to get Otago Uni to endorse it. Stay after your kai to learn what it’s about, and how you can help! ?
The aim of these gatherings is to nourish the local vegan community as we enjoy delicious vegan food with like-minded people in a safe, friendly, and relaxed atmosphere. Networking, connecting, & hanging out! ?
Please bring your hoa (friends), whanau (family), co-workers (hoa mahi), or anyone else who looks hungry for a big plate of plant based deliciousness. ?️
Everyone is welcome at our potlucks - vegans and non-vegans alike - just as long as you are genuinely interested in and/or supportive of veganism, and any food you bring along is vegan. Tamariki (children) are most welcome too! ?
Please bring a vegan dish to share. REMINDER that vegan food excludes ALL animal products, including meat, eggs, dairy, or honey, even from 'free range' sources, and even in very small quantities. ?
If you’re unsure what to bring, you there are plenty of great websites for inspiration, but vegan kai (food) doesn't have to be fancy. It can be as simple as tossing together a fresh fruit salad or a green salad, or bringing a bowl of hummus, with chips or a platter of crunchy vegetables for dipping. ?️
If you are bringing kai you've made yourself, we encourage you to bring a small piece of paper with a list of ingredients on it. This helps people those with allergies to make informed decisions about what they are comfortable eating. Feel free to put your name on it too, so people can let you know how much they enjoyed your dish! ?
The shared kai is what makes these events great, so please do bring a dish if you can. But if you're genuinely unable to, you can still come along. Your company is what's important. ?
Please bring a koha to help us cover the costs of the venue. ? (Suggested = gold coin).
See you there! ?

Note 2:
Veganism is not a diet. It is a social justice movement which has respect for non-human animals at it's core. We also acknowledge and embrace the environmental and human rights benefits of veganism, and the health benefits of a plant-based diet. As much as is possible and practicable, vegans avoid ALL forms of animal exploitation. We avoid all animal-derived foods, and foods which contain these things as ingredients: even in small quantities. This includes foods derived from organic, free range, or wild animals. To find out more about veganism and what foods are and aren't vegan, check out the 'About Veganism' page on our website: http://dovesnz.weebly.com/veganism.html
------------------------
Note 3:
If you have any allergies or special dietary requirements (other than being vegan) please let one of the DŌVeS organisers know at the event, or beforehand. DŌVeS is always more than happy to help people identify which dishes are suited to your needs, and which ones aren't.
